India: found a Chedi in the Vizianagaram

Department of archaeology and museums has accidentally been witness of a Buddhist heritage site in the village of Bhogapuram Mandal in Vizianagaram district Gudiwada.

The Hill, located right on the banks of the River Gosthani, exploited the material on both sides, today only a small mound.

It exists in the area of a circular tower and a small water tank as the structure is carved on the stone as well as the large brick-sized 52cmx27x7 cm, porcelain pieces decorated pottery and red are also found in different locations on the Hill.
About half of the top of the Hill has been leveled and monasteries like structure was built, probably in about half a century ago by the villagers.
Two churches have altars are mentioned but do not have the above.
There are bundles of wood stored in the temple, and even to this day the villagers were still worshipping the piece of wood. This proves there is a branch of the Buddhist tradition.
"The modest height and size of the tower as well as the lack of sculpture indicated that it might have been constructed during the early years of Buddhism, Theravada phase", Assistant Director of archaeology and the Museum of k. Chittibabu told the newspaper The Hindu heritage page.
The Tower might have been used for religious purposes. The mortar was made of lime was found on some bricks, shows traces of Buddhist legacy like towers at the site was discovered at Thotlakonda and Bhavikonda. There is also evidence of the pod are used for firing the bricks.
The battery must have liked this place, where the River Gostani flows through the air and on the sea, a few kilometres from Bheemunipatnam. The river's lush freshwater supplies in addition to providing an important sea trade routes with the rest of the world.
At the foot of a hill, with a statue of Ganesh in with relatives who turned to the left, indicating that the statue came from ancient Nandi Idol, Odisha, Naga Bandham and Siva Lingam is also found here.
"The protection of this location is important. However, this can be done only after the Government declared it a work should be protected.
