BUDDHISM BELIEFS.

Welcome to Noble Buddhism Beliefs. This is my journey through Buddhism, and an explanation and narrative of my Buddha path -what I have learned, what I practice. The wisdom here is how I see Sakyamuni Buddha's teachings. I believe it to be a wise way to walk the path of life.
With these teachings as a solid guide I try to understand the essence of the good life as taught by Sakyamuni. I believe these teachings may be helpful to all that open their minds. Hopefully you will experience something good here too, with your visit today.

What I found buried in the Buddha's teachings or dharma is that it is a clear and concise path that leads to a peaceful and contented approach to life. Hopefully, all of you that stumble upon these pages will in some way be better off for your venture here. In particular, may you find that seemingly ever-elusive life happiness that the Buddha went searching for long ago and ultimately realized.
These pages are also about Buddha quotes. Scattered throughout these pages you will find plenty of Buddha sayings from the suttas. There are also a few pages dedicated with only Buddha quotes.
In this way I have sifted through many layers of Buddhist teachings and traditions from many sources, and continue to do so, to what I believe is closer to the true and relevant teachings of the Buddha. There are many Buddhist beliefs, so this isn't an easy task.
Because Buddhism beliefs are so varied I seek out that which can be applied to my life in a way that is real, and works. I have come to believe that the Buddha's way, that is, the intentions of his dhamma or teachings, is to allow for the movement through life in a 'poised and ethical' way. I seek in the manner and nature of the Buddha's teaching:
"Don't blindly believe what I say. Don't believe me, nor another, based on how others convince you with words. Don't believe anything you read or hear, whether of tradition, authority, religious teachers or texts. Neither should you speculate, nor rely on logic alone. Don't be deceived by appearances. Find out for yourself what is true and virtuous. Abandon those things that lead to pain and suffering."
- The Buddha, Anguttara Nikaya, Kalama Sutta
In this way I continue to discover the Buddha's guiding wisdom and apply it in my life to improve my life and the lives of people that I know. I believe you can do this too. This path or way is what the Buddha called the Middle Way. It is a practice that is threaded throughout the suttas. They are teachings that lead to a path of awakening for all that choose ethics, integrity and clarity.
The Buddha realized and taught a path to awakening more than 2500 years ago. This is an ancient path. His truth and teaching has grown and spread from the ancient world to the modern world. In doing so, much has changed with what the Buddha originally intended.
This site is my journey and discoveries of what I've found Buddhism beliefs to be, or better stated, what the Buddha taught. This, as opposed to the dogma and confinements of any one tradition.
In short, what I've found is a path of practical understanding that leads to clarity of mind and, subsequently, a better way of experiencing life when put into use. There is no spiritual leap of faith required other than to start putting into practice in your life the Buddha's wisdom.
This site is divided into two sections: The Buddha's Dhamma (teachings) of truth that applies to understanding life that leads to the experience of a better life, and general knowledge regarding the various traditions and Buddhism beliefs that have grown out of what the Buddha originally taught.
The Buddha set the Wheel of Truth turning some 2500 years ago with his realizations. This momentum allowed for true wisdom and insight to be accessible to all people that seek truth, understanding, and a an experiential aspect of life. The essence of what the Buddha taught can be summed up into healthy and virtuous living.
We, as seekers, can choose to awake from our slumber, open our eyes, and experience life. Understand what awakening truly is -being free of the clutter that pervades our senses- and knowing. This is what the Buddha intended for all that choose freedom from the restraints of illusions. He laid out a path that leads to awakening for all that actually put it into practice.
Knowledge, patience and understanding are key factors. Take your time to understand as it is a gradual path of learning. One of the secrets to understanding is through experience. This is where daily meditations allow you to not just intellectualize but to embody the Buddha's dhamma.
I regard all of the traditions that follow Buddha Sakyamuni's teachings and mean no disrespect by what I have written in these pages. All traditions have something to teach. Understanding this opens your mind. To me, this is an essential aspect of Buddhism. This is also good wisdom for any path one follows.
In any regard, my work here, may allow you to make a choice of which tradition you'd like to follow. Or, you may choose to be open to all traditions and simply be a follower of the Buddha's dhamma. Noble Buddhism Beliefs is about the Buddha's teachings and intentions of wisdom as opposed to following any one tradition.
The Buddha's teachings are a simple, natural truth that leads to enlightenment, or I believe, better stated as awakening. He was a man of deep understanding of how and why life is what it is. Who knows, finding your path may entail discovering your life purpose, inspiration, motivation, passion and even the internal energy to live life every day to your fullest.
"All that we are is the result of what we think and have thought. What we are is founded on our thoughts, made up of our thoughts."
-The Buddha, The Dhammapada
The teachings are a path to helping you shed the false constructs of what your mind perceives. Call this your ego or what you may, but you can go beyond your thoughts. In this way you can discover how life truly is, and as such improve life and relationships. One way to do this is by understanding others, people you co-exist with, so that true love and compassion for yourself and them is realized.
This means sharing and ultimately leaving an imprint of great contribution of your abundance for others. In this way you will experience the kind of life that deep down, you always knew you were meant to live.
I believe that Sakyamuni Buddha simplified all this with a noble path. Buddhism is the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Translated, this is the man that originally taught this magnificent philosophy, his teachings that will free you, and the people that follow his teachings as well as the people in your life.
Buddhism beliefs captures the elements of a noble life of unconstrained freedom and personal development that was devised by Sakyamuni Buddha with clarity and purpose. I believe there's no need to re-invent the wheel. We only need to apply the teachings to the way of our modern day.
Of course, meditation is a big part of Buddhist traditions and Buddhism beliefs. Meditation in itself, though, is not the complete answer. When combined with distinct knowledge of the core teachings your life will evolve. Meditation is highly beneficial and, regardless of the path you follow, will enhance your life for the positive.
Sakyamuni was so 'on' with his observations that more than 2500 years later his words and philosophy are quoted and used in everything from Christianity to new-age spiritualism. The essence of Buddhism is the The First Noble Truth. This truth is the first of Four Noble Truths the Buddha realized or awoke to.
"Bhikkhus (seekers of truth), there are Four Noble Truths: The Truth of Suffering, The Truth of the Origin of Suffering, The Truth of the End of Suffering, and the Truth of the Path that Leads to the End of Suffering."
-The Buddha

The Evolution of Buddhism

Since Sakyamuni's time there have been many additions and embellishments to his teachings. As a result, the basic or core Buddhism beliefs have been altered in a manner not intended by the Buddha. This is why Buddhism appears to be very confusing at first glance. Many of these additions are cultural and some are the result of the merging of a culture's religion into the Buddha's teachings. Others have developed specific ways in order to attain awakening. For example Zen teaches 'sitting meditation'. Tibetan Buddhism follows the Lamrim.
Let me implore that none of the various traditions and schools are wrong. They are simply different. That is, they have chosen for one reason or another to move on a somewhat different path. This can be confusing to new Buddhists and those seeking the spiritual path. It is also confusing when you hear or read something about Buddhism and it's not what you had previously heard. It is because an uninformed source is stating a belief from one tradition or school which doesn't apply to all traditions and schools.
Other additions are the result of influential teachers since the time of Buddha. Even the 'new-agers' misquote the Buddha. As a result of all this Buddhism history is colorful. More or less, the same sort of thing has happened to Christianity. Whatever the case, the actual teachings of the Buddha are clear and concise. Buddhism beliefs are somewhat varied depending on the school. The core beliefs are followed by all.

Buddha
"Do not give up your authority and follow blindly the will of others. This way will only lead to delusion."
- The Buddha
The best part of this is that you can use the Buddha's original teachings as he intended. Whether you are Buddhist, new Buddhist or simply a person seeking a spiritual path or on an open quest for happiness. Buddhism beliefs are for everyone!
The Buddha talks about the three fires or three poisons that prevent you from awakening. These truths are important to gaining wisdom.

Buddhism Beliefs, Discover the Truths

Discover the truths and myths of Buddhism. There are many. One new to the spiritual path of Buddhism is often lost in the complexity of the teachings. With some study, there is no need for this. Many of the ideas of the new age spiritual movement are taken from Buddhism and other ancient religions of India and elsewhere. Often, simple concepts are made to be convoluted and non-sensible. This is why there are many misunderstandings regarding Buddhism and other ancient religions.

"Find out for yourself what is truth, what is real. Discover that there are virtuous things and there are non-virtuous things. Once you have discovered for yourself give up the bad and embrace the good."
